Confirmation Classes
Confirmation classes provide instruction in the basic beliefs of the Christian church such as the salvation through faith in Jesus Christ and the Holy Trinity. They also offer new or young believers basic Bible skill knowledge as well as some old and new testament history. Individuals attending confirmation classes will also learn about the Lutheran church, its history, and beliefs about baptism and communion. Generally, children begin taking confirmation classes once a week around middle school. Upon completion of the classes, participants will then make a public statement (during a worship service) "confirming" their faith and explaining what their faith means to them. Confirmation classes for adults are usually incorporated with new member classes. Adult confirmands don't typically share their testimony in front of the congregation, but, will "confirm" their faith during worship by answering a series of questions such as "Do you renounce the devil and all his works and all his way?" and "Do you believe the Bible to be the true inspired Word of God?" when becoming a member of the congregation.
